War For The Planet Of The Apes: The First Stellar Reviews

Wonder Woman was certainly the early summer blockbuster. At least after seeing the success of its protagonist Gal Gadot and the excellent figures from box office. But soon arrived major rivals such as Spider-Man: Homecoming and War for the Planet of the Apes, a new chapter in the long-lived Planet of the Apes saga. The film will come to us in mid-July. Many American critics, however, have already managed to see the film, writing consequently the first reviews.

War for the Planet of the Apes: The first criticism from the US

The criticisms are varied and not at all uniform, as is almost always the case with a big box-office blockbuster. There are positive reviews also negative ones. According to the critic of The Hollywood Reporter's Todd McCarthy, the film has a truly exceptional visual power. It is mostly thanks to the director of photography Michael Seresin painting around the high-impact monkey atmosphere.

The film also seems to be an art film rather than pure blockbuster, which we think is excellent news. The co-writer Mark Bomback takes the views and aspirations of the characters seriously. He doesn't give a direction to the viewer, or indicate who is good and who is evil.

Bilge Ebiri of The Village Voice instead wrote, We know that many men are capable of committing atrocities. This film tells the instinct and violence as a direct consequence of our being. The rest of the protagonists of the film are not zombies. The impulses that we see on the big screen is familiar to us. We perfectly recognize the anger and the strength of the leaders who support it.

It is a theme of our times, and is extremely topical. The monkeys live in an oppressed world where morality does not have any space. The survival instinct of the protagonists could well be ours. The viewer can be in complete harmony. The thinking is much the same with Peter Bradshaw of The Guardian. He defined the world in the film as absolutely credible and in line with the character of the monkeys that inhabit it.

According to him, the film has a clear and firm direction. It is not lost in unnecessary and self-congratulatory moments. It never distracts so is it is not superfluous.

Eric John Indiewire was less enthusiastic than his colleagues. But he still said that the film has the rare workmanship and moments of beauty. Above all if we look at other products like that. According to Brian Truitt of USA Today, the real action comes too late, only at the end, when both men and monkeys have to fight for their survival. Yet the climax is quite exciting and satisfying. It is useful to remind us that the Caesar is one of the best adventures this summer.

Even James Dyer of Empire wrote that the film is actually a more introspective journey than you can imagine. It will disappoint those who only expect the chimpanzee attack without mercy on the men. This does not mean that there is only action and there are no emotions. The conflict is primarily moral, intimate, and human.

It seems that the film is liked by the American press, which in recent times has massacred movies such as Transformers: The Last Knight and The Mummy. War for the Planet of the Apes seems to escape thanks to its humanity and its profound character. These are the elements that seem to go well beyond the mere fight for survival, supremacy and territory.

Preacher Season 2: The Road Trip Begins

As all readers of Preacher comic book know, this story is, after all, a crazy road trip in its form. This was not at all present in the first season of the adaptation proposed by AMC last summer. Nevertheless, Preacher Season 2 trip begins this Sunday on the American chain with an episode with the name On The Road.

As a reminder, the first season of Preacher was held in Annville, Texas, where Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper) found himself owned by Genesis, an entity endowing him with powers. He then decided to give life back to his church, but it did not turn out as he hoped. Now, along with his girlfriend Tulip (Ruth Negga) and the vampire Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun), Jesse takes the road and sets off in search of God.

For the trio, things are not going to be simple, since they are pursued by the Holy Killers and by the members of the Grail, a secret organization that wants to use the power of Genesis to realize its plans.

On the casting side, Preacher Season 2 welcomes Noah Taylor (Peaky Blinders), Pip Torrens (Poldark, The Crown) and Julie Ann Emery (Major Crimes, Better Call Saul) in regular roles. Malcolm Barrett (Timeless), Ronald Guttman and Justin Prentice (Awkward) have been announced as recurring.

AMC teams have taken their bags from the American comic book of the same name created by Garth Ennis (screenplay) and Steve Dillon (drawing). The second season was filmed in Louisiana. Preacher is developed by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg with producer Sam Catlin (Breaking Bad).

I've never been hooked by the universe of horror. The film that impressed me most in this style was Alien, which really cramped me up. On the other hand, I liked Spiderman and I read Preacher well before being called on this series. The comics of my time were really very different from this.

Power Season 4: Ghost Claims His Innocence

While Power Season 3 on Starz ended last year, the US pay channel revealed the Power Season 4. With 2.26 million viewers on the other side of the Atlantic, we eagerly wait to see the first episode of the new season of the TV series. The schedule has been shifted from Saturday evening to Sunday night to compete with other private channels such as Showtime and HBO. Power in three seasons became one of the spearheads of the Starz chain.

Created in 2014 by Courtney Kemp Agboh, the TV series traces the life of James "Ghost" St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick), owner of a nightclub in vogue in New York. His will is to create a true empire in the nightclub business. Earlier he was the head of one of the most influential drug networks in the Big Apple. Ghost now wants to stop his illegal activities and focus on his goal.

power season 4

It is a decision that could endanger not only his relations but also his business. On the Power cast side, rapper 50 Cent, who co-produced the series, made many appearances in the skin of the character of Kanan. Curtis (50 Cent) has not only a great talent but also is the executive producer. He has a very special vision for the television industry.

Curtis brings a fresh, genuine and passionate look. He has many fans behind him who are contributing to the success of the series, said Starz President Chris Albrecht. The producers and the talented cast of Power have created one of the most original series I've ever had the chance to air. Fans have made it clear that they do not have any enough of the adventures of Ghost, Tommy, Tasha, Angela, and Kanan, he added.

Power Season 4 will be broadcast every Sunday night on Starz and the American chain let us know with a brief overview behind the scenes. If you have not yet seen the end of Power Season 3, it is best to stop here and come back a little later so you do not over-discover it. Yes, the teaser video does not reveal too much, but we can still reconnect with Ghost (Omari Hardwick) who is in a somewhat complicated situation.

Pitch Perfect 3: The Barden Bellas Return

It's time to sing. Universal Pictures has released the first official trailer for Pitch Perfect 3, the film that saw the protagonists Barden Bellas in previous two rounds. The saga, now in its third chapter will review the main characters played by Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow, Anna Camp, Hailee Steinfeld and Elizabeth Banks.

The latter, who recently raised a fuss against the Steven Spielberg film Giant, in Pitch Perfect 2 has also held the position of director. But for this third round ceded the honor to Trish Sie (Step it Up: All In), limiting herself to be not only an actress but also a producer of the film.

A new addition to the cast for this third appointment will be John Lithgow (The Twilight Zone) and Ruby Rose (Orange is the New Black).

Pitch Perfect 3 images

Pitch Perfect 1 arrived in theaters in 2012 and grossed 115.3 million dollars worldwide, producing a soundtrack of great success with several singles including Cups sung by Anna Kendrick. Riding the wave of success, Universal Pictures has decided to continue with the sequel.

Pitch Perfect 2 even surpassed the expectations of the first and grossed 287.5 million worldwide. The third round in the trailer is prophetically called The farewell tour, so we understand that (maybe) it will be the last.

The graduates had left victorious two years ago, but in the Pitch Perfect 3, Barden Bellas are now officially adults. Finding space for music in their lives seems a tall order until they choose to invest their talents in a new adventure armed with suitcases and good will. The Bellas leave to join the USO tour in Europe. It would not be a real Pitch Perfect without a little healthy singing competition, right?

Among the stars confirmed is Hailee Steinfeld, who is also in talks to be the protagonist of the spin-off of Bumblebee in the Transformers saga.

Pitch Perfect 3 will hit theaters on December 22, 2017.

The Originals: Season 4 Finale and Season 5 Spoilers

This article deals specifically with issues related to the season finale of The Originals 4. And also the beginning of the Season 5 of the CW weblog show. The Originals Season 4 finale comes with a surprise from The Vampire Diaries. It is both touching and beautiful. Bonds are sealed even more and there are others which are broken. There are tears of joy and sorrow. There are emotions that culminate with the intense season finale that is full of pathos.

Not only that, the last episode suggests possible developments in The Originals Season 5. At the end of the fourth season of The Originals series, we see the preparation for another leap in time.

First, we receive Alaric from The Vampire Diaries. Michael Narducci, executive of the show, reveals that it is a pleasure to get back Matt Davis to film the scene. Hope (Summer Fontana) is at the school for children with special qualities with Alaric and Caroline in Mystic Falls.

Klaus offers a large sum of money to the school. Probably, the little Mikaelson will not have to pay the fees now. This is perhaps connected with the time jump in the fifth season. In season 5 we see Hope and a teenage crush on a vampire named Roman.

Elijah asks Vincent to forget the past and begin a new life as a musician. While the enemy of the season was partially defeated, we are sure that the fifth season of The Originals is very different. And perhaps with a dash of The Vampire Diaries.

Will Hope Mikaelson find love in The Originals Season 5?

The daughter of Klaus has changed when we again meet her after the time jump of Season 4. In the new episodes of Season 5 of The Originals, Hope falls in love with a vampire named Roman. He has an evil charm. They discover that they have much in common because both of them come from dysfunctional families. And this unites them.

The rumor came from sources close to the production of the series. They revealed that Hope might be the focus of the new spinoff of The Originals. Hope is a grown up now. In the 5th season of The Originals, Hope is in the last years of her adolescence. There is also a possibility of seeing adulthood.

Hope Mikaelson can be the star of a new TV series of The Vampire Diaries. Although, both The CW and Warner Bros. TV network refused to comment. In the past, Julie Plec revealed that there are other TV series that arises from the universe of The Vampire Diaries. She was commenting on the famous letter to Caroline in the finale of the series The Vampire Diaries.

Will Caroline and Klaus reunite in the new television series spinoff of The Originals?

In the finale of The Vampire Diaries, we found the clue to the future of Caroline and Klaus. In the last moments of the episode, we discover that Caroline received a generous donation from Klaus. And a letter that stated, please accept this contribution for your virtuous cause. I look forward to personally thank you, one day. No matter how long it takes. Yours, Klaus.

Furthermore, Hope Mikaelson ends up in Mystic Falls to attend the Salvatore Boarding School for the Young & Gifted. And it's not the first time that we talk about this possibility. Consequently, this news confirms the subject of a new series set in the world of The Vampire Diaries. Hence, there is also the return of Caroline Forbes (Candice King). She is destined to appear alongside Alaric Saltzman (Matthew Davies).

The idea seems just that. We saw a snippet of what looks like an announcement of the production looking for a new actress for the part of Hope in The Originals. It is stated that the role of Hope for the series of The Originals is available for those who wish to do some auditions.

Jab Harry Met Sejal Mini Trail 1

Jab Harry Met Sejal poster images

Imtiaz Ali revealed excerpts from his latest creation Jab Harry Met Sejal that brings together Shahrukh Khan and Anushka Sharma for the third time on the screen. And instead of unveiling the trailer immediately, the producers decided to deliver what they call the mini trail. Overall these are small teasers just like the chapters unveiled for Dear Zindagi.

Shahrukh Khan and Imtiaz Ali were on the television set of the channel broadcasting the cricket match to unveil two excerpts of a mini trail and a musical extract. A stroke of marketing genius when we know the devouring passion of the Indian public for cricket and is a great way to captivate the attention of a huge part of the public. But the real challenge was to convince all these beautiful people who would wait in front of the television screen that King Khan shows us more. So here is the very first promotional extract of Jab Harry Met Sejal:

And the result seems to be up to expectations! After experimenting with a gangster role in Raees and a tricky dual role in FAN, Shahrukh Khan is back in a more familiar territory, reminding us in passing why he is the King of Romance. Especially since his character is not limited to the nice little romantic hero since according to the few images and dialogues.

SRK would return to his role of the lover that marked some of his greatest romantic classics. The dialogues work perfectly, the alchemy between the couple is once again perfectly effective and the two characters seem very well written. This is the great strength of the cinema of Imtiaz Ali, he writes singular and memorable characters. So even in just 30 seconds, we can guess that this duo will not be an umpteenth transparent duo of romantic comedy.

Shahrukh Khan captivates the eye with his presence on screen and his talent as an actor, but Anushka Sharma is not outdone either and shines by her natural play. An uncommon Shahrukh Khan and Anushka in search of freedom and a talented filmmaker to lead the whole, what more could you ask for! It will now be necessary to wait for the next mini trail, knowing that the complete trailer will be unveiled with Tubelight.

As for the musical excerpt unveiled on television, it has not yet been put online. We can see some snippets of videos on social networks but the quality is not optimal. Here too, we will have to wait for a little! It is a romantic song festive in the pure tradition of the light pieces that one finds in Imtiaz Ali.

Shot under the provisional title The Ring, the title was the subject of many rumors, including Rehnuma. And in order to play with the suspense till the end, the title was unveiled in two stages. A double play on words as it refers to Jab We Met, one of the biggest hits of the director Imtiaz Ali, and to the American film When Harry Met Sally. The producers favored a title being partly Hindi, a decision that seems logical because the public of single screens tends to hesitate in front of English titles.

So all this is beautiful, and the title is both surprising and rather clever, but what about the posters? Well, one discovers luminous, playful and festive posters. On one side Shahrukh Khan dance with a colorful background and on the other hand, Anushka Sharma illuminates the poster. The couple seems to work once again wonderfully and this third film together will certainly delight the fans.

At the top of the two posters is the map of Europe with a point that stops on different destinations with Poland for the first and the Netherlands for the second. Remember that this film should be partly a road movie since Shahrukh Khan will play the role of a tour guide. We know the love of Imtiaz Ali for the thematic journey (initiation) with Jab We Met, Rockstar, Highway or Tamasha who approached this notion.

While his last three films claim to be more independent in nature, aiming to destabilize the average spectator in certain aspects, we must see with this movie a return of Imtiaz Ali towards a more public and commercial cinema in the footsteps of his Jab We Met.

47 Meters Down: Mandy Moore Faces a Monstrous Shark

47 Meters Down images

Two sisters Lisa and Kate, go on vacation in Mexico. Lisa is still in grief since her breakup with her boyfriend Stuart. The young women meet two young Mexicans who advise them to try the Shark Diving, that is to say, the cage diving with the sharks around.

Kate, a natural adventurer, convinces Lisa to accompany her for this thrilling experience that could change her ideas. The two young women then meet Taylor, a sailor who makes tourists take advantage of the shark diving in a clandestine way. The two young women enter the cage. Two large white sharks, about 6 meters long, then prowl around the cage. But an accident happens! The loose cable and cage share collapse to 47 meters deep.

Lisa and Kate find themselves alone in the dark without radio contact, with limited reserves of oxygen. The risk of a decompression accident prevents them from returning to the surface quickly. Now, outside the cage in the shadows, sharks are always on the lookout! 47 Meters Down is therefore is in keeping with the logic of the Shark Survival and in the line of The Reef. Just like Instinct of Survival.

We cannot repeat it enough, but Steven Spielberg's Teeth of the Sea has influenced the seventh art and more particularly the domain of Horror, generating the film with killer sharks. A genre that got very quickly out of breath literally sinking into the nanar with time. But in 2011, the cards were redistributed thanks to the release of Andrew Traucki's The Reef, which told the story of shipwrecked sharks. A new breath for the shark movie that revived by taking the paces of a survival.

Subsequently, other directors threw themselves on the vein. In 2016, we received the Instinct of Survival, which took up the aspect of shark survival, without bringing anything. We were falling into the reed of The Reef and there was nothing new on the horizon. But this year has also released another film of the same kind. This film was earlier titled In the Deep that is now known as 47 Meters Down, directed by Johannes Roberts, a regular of horror films.

This is again a shark survival movie which apparently did not seem to be able to bring any more, but which finally turns out to be quite a pleasant surprise. So much so that some have compared it to Gravity. However, as I said above, one could consider, in all proportions, that 47 Meters Down is to shark film what Gravity was to Science Fiction.

In fact, what makes the difference in 47 Meters Down is firstly the ambiance. From Open Water to Instinct of Survival, the shark survival genre always took place on the surface. Here, the film takes us to a depth of 47 meters. It thus renewed the aesthetics of the genre and abandons the maritime blue for an abyssal and impressive black surroundings.

The result is really oppressive. Our two young heroines are forced to leave the cage to go up to 40 meters in order to come into radio contact with the surface. They find themselves then plunged in a dark universe, not being able to distinguish what is a few meters in front of them. What is frightening in this film is not what you see, but what you do not see.

47 Meters Down pushes this concept to its climax. However, it does not fall into the Open Water trap. Unlike the latter, our service sharks will here be largely visible during the highlights. It works wonders and even while being on the alert, the viewer will automatically let himself be surprised.

47 Meters Down is a very black film, which is unusual for a shark movie. Johannes Roberts manages to create a climate of stress and total oppression. That's why I do not really like the official poster that does not exploit this aspect confining itself to the banality, where the original wanted more in the tonality of the work. The film also relies heavily on realism. If you are a diving enthusiast, you will find that 47 Meters Down is fairly accurate in what it shows. Notably on the effects that deep dives can have.

Numerous details come to credibilize the film. But above all, they shape the intrigue. As for the actors, the two heroines are interpreted by Mandy Moore and Claire Holt. The two actresses do pretty well without bursting the screen. Matthew Modine will also be welcomed as Taylor, the captain of the boat.

But our stars are also sharks. On this point, the level of perfection of the Survival Instinct is clearly not attained. However, our service sharks are pretty well made, large enough even to be credible. However, one can reproach 47 Meters Down its intro that draws a little in length by staging relations that are rather clich├ęs with stories of rupture frankly misplaced. That said, one can also appreciate this aspect in the sense that the continuation of the plot takes a total counterpart.

The film also benefits from a very interesting twist, which the attentive spectator will be able to anticipate, but that surprised me well. In terms of music, it is good and there will also be blood and violent scenes, and the genre obliges.

In the end, 47 Meters Down succeeds. One would lie by saying that the film renews the genre, but it brings its stone to the edifice. Johannes Roberts manages to create a film with a particular atmosphere that is truly impressive. To me, it is one of the best shark movies ever made.
